Experience the World’s Biggest in Casey Illinois
One of our favourite travel obsessions is pulling off the road every time we see a sign for the “World’s Biggest …”!
On a recent RV road trip across the United States, we found Casey, Illinois: The Small Town of Big Things. Of course we were intrigued, and had to pause our travel to discover what this sign meant.
The Small Town of Big Things
If you’re a sucker for roadside attractions like I am, Casey, Illinois needs to be on your road trip bucket list.
Casey is located along the I70, mid-way between Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri. Here you’ll find a huge (pun indended) collection of 12 of the World’s Biggest items, along with 20+ other Big Things. Many of these items are located within a few block radius of the town center, making this roadstop easy and exhilarating. Best of all, the attractions are open 24/7 and FREE to view!
This amazing collection was brought to life by local businessman, Jim Bolin, who wanted to give back to the community he loved dearly. All but 2 of the items you’ll find here were constructed by Jim and his crew from Bolin Enterprises, Inc. Most of the items were built using recycled materials Jim had collected over the years, such as old telephone poles, damaged pipe, and oil tanks.
